The initiative for cooperation in the reconstruction of the square, which was very popular with the citizens in the past, belongs to the Director General of one of the leading design institutes of the Black Soil Region - JSC Gazproektinzhiniring - Sergey Belyi. At a meeting with the mayor he presented a preliminary design of the renovated square.

Vadim Bashilov, the head of the Levoberezhny District council, and Vladimir Astanin, the chairman of the Voronezh Regional Association of Builders, took part in the discussion, nothing that the square had been a landmark since Soviet times, especially for residents of the Left Bank:

"There is a monumental art object in the form of a fish, which is the central sculpture of the fountain and generally defines the theme of the square. Now we are talking about preserving the historical appearance of the square and making it new," said Vladimir Astanin, chairman of the Voronezh Regional Association of Builders.

The last work on the square was carried out in the early 2000s. The fountain has been out of service for a long time due to severe wear and tear of the underground piping and pumping equipment. It is necessary to reconstruct the basin of the fountain and restore the small architectural structure itself.

This year JSC Gazproektinzhiniring celebrates its 55th anniversary. On the eve of this event, we decided to do something significant for the city where we have been working for so many years.

"We have chosen a place that deserves special attention, we have prepared a design that has been approved by the Chief Architect's Office and we are ready to discuss its implementation. Our company offers to develop the design and detail design documents," Sergey Belyi, the Director General of the Design Institute, told the mayor.

He said that the improvement of the virtually empty area consists of the organisation of the square and the restoration of the "Fish". The previously proposed project provides for the arrangement of the lawn with the placement of a commemorative sign for the anniversary of the company - the name and logo, and the installation of benches. Around the fountain, there will be a plot with a hard surface and a relief in the form of terraced steps with places for planting trees. In the vertical part of the terraced steps there is a backlight that will create a soft light around the space at night.
